Korean War
Before the WarBefore the war started China became communist, their leader Mao Zedong. Mao created the Peoples Republic of China; and they were allies with the Soviet Union. From this China touched the boarders of North Korea, where they influenced North Korea into becoming communist. This created fear in South Korea and the United States, thus the domino affect they feared would occur. The leader of North Korea was Kim Il-Sung. The leader of South Korea was Syngman Rhee.

The WarThe war started when North Korea invaded South Korea. When South Korea knew that North Korea kept on moving further into their country, they asked help from the United Nations. (Now at the time the Soviet Union didn't have a vote in the matter for they were upset that China was not allowed in the United Nations and were boycotting the UN.) Once the United Nations got involved the United States sent General Douglas MacArthur. MacArthur was able to push back North Korea from taking South Korea. When the United States pushed back North Korea, the US was able to push them to the boarder of China. From this China helped out North Korea, where they sent 1 million troops in aid for North Korea. When this happened the United States and South Korea were pushed back to the 38th Parallel. At the end of the war 4 million Koreans were killed and only 50,000 US troops were killed.
